Adult Classes
October 3, 4 and 5 - 9:30 to 4:30
Painting Vibrant Watercolors
from Photos
“Watercolor is a means for me to celebrate nature. Trees, flowers, and water are a few elements that capture my imagination. I look for unique patterns within small areas of nature and try to emphasize them. The painting generally begins with several photographs taken in early morning sunlight. I am most successful when I have sunshine to help me define shapes, shadow and translucent color. For me, watercolor is all about light and translucent color, accented with rich, deep shadows. The intent is to achieve a glow with watercolor by using complementary colors, glazing (layering one color over another), and sharp value contrasts.”
Originally from Longview, Washington, Sharon Freeman has been painting in watercolor for over ten years. She majored in fine art and education at Central Washington University. Now retired, Sharon taught elementary school art and other subjects for 24 years. She currently teaches adult watercolor workshops. For additional information visit her website: www.pnwwatercolors.com.
Class size is limited to 14. Workshop is $175 for Allied Arts members; $185 for non-members. Some experience with watercolor recommended.
The Fine Print: $60 deposit will hold your spot until September 15, when the balance is due. All money will be refunded if workshop is cancelled. Student cancellations received on or prior to Sept. 20 will be charged a $20 processing fee. Cancellations received after Sept. 20 will be charged a $60 cancellation fee. )
